Let's be honest, now that I am a Mommy, there isn't much Liz or much of that, mostly just about Finleigh!

17 weeks! & best smoothie ever!

How far along? 17 weeks! 5+ inches long & size of an onion!
Total weight gain: 5 1/2 lbs-ish, I'm not weighing the same day of the week... I need to!
Maternity clothes? I did some online shopping and bought a lot more clothes ($o $pendy), but I am still wearing mostly my normal clothes. Maternity clothes are realllly comfy though, I won't be too upset when I have to switch!
Stretch marks? nothing yet!
Sleep: Still pretty good! I have even actually been able to stay up past 9pm this past week, ha!
Best moment this week: Monday in general was the best "moment." I had the holiday off so Kevin & I got the most amaaaaazing warm cocoa butter couples massage. Heaven. And to top it off, we had my 16 week appt right after the massage & heard the heartbeat! 156bpm and hands down the coolest sound ever!
Miss Anything? My clothes fitting me normal, they still "fit" but are so much more uncomfortable!!
Movement: Yes finally!! It only happens every so often, but finally I started noticing it was the same feeling over and over and then at the doctor she heard baby move on the doppler even as I felt it!
Food cravings: Honeycrisp apples are gone from most stores, SAD! Still LOVING my grapefruit, any time of the day. Maybe once before I brushed my teeth, bad idea. Also I was craving pineapple so I added some frozen to my breakfast smoothie and YUM! (I put the recipe below) My peanut sauce craving was revived when I went to Venti's Taphouse, a restaurant in Salem this weekend. I could literally DRINK their peanut sauce.
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!
Have you started to show yet: If I am not hiding it with a scarf or a baggier shirt then I really think it is visible, but honestly probably really only to people who know I am pregnant. My friends this weekend definitely noticed it.
Gender prediction: People keep asking me if I have the "feeling" what the baby is and I really have no idea!
Symptoms: The fatigue is finally getting a little bit better! I have been working out almost every day and have just had a lot of energy and have been ridiculously productive, about damn time! Lower back pain comes and goes, but a little heading pad and putting my feet up and I am good to go!
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, almost like caffeine charged happy energy without the caffeine!
Looking forward to: Still ready to find out the gender, come on Valentine's Day!

Best Smoothie Ever!

I am not a food blogger, nor do I pretend to be or plan to be (I could never compete with the stunning photos and recipes of my faves Part Time House Wife & Eat, Live, Run), however this is my new go-to breakfast and it is just too tasty & easy not to share! Okay I maybe pair it with eggo's but the smoothie still adds protein, calcium, potassium, servings of fruit and so much more to the daily diet for baby & me!

Start with 1 cup vanilla light soy milk, 2 bananas and a small carton of vanilla greek
yogurt (any low fat brand works)!

Then come the berries: 3/4 cup frozen strawberries (4-5 huge berries), 3/4 cup frozen
three berry mix and about 1/2 cup frozen pineapple (about 5-6 lil chunks). Got them all at
Costco! Measurements are estimates since the strawberries are ginormous!

Throw it all in the blender! I usually add a titch of agave syrup to cut any tart!

Voilà! So good! This makes two HUGE smoothies, one for me and one for the hubby!

16 weeks!

Sooo we took the picture on time and I had the post written, but just haven't had time to upload the picture and post the darn thing! Trying to get better at that! We spend the 3-day weekend with a massive cleaning and organizing mission trying to make room for baby. I think I am still tired from it. It is truly shocking how much crap STUFF you have that you don't need or haven't even touched in years... to goodwill it went - all 2 SUV loads worth! Needless to say we still have a lot to do, good thing we have time!

How far along? 16 weeks
Total weight gain: 5 pounds or so
Maternity clothes? I broke down and bought a few tops from H&M and have been shopping online looking around. It is hard for me to want to buy all these new clothes that I can only wear for a few months!
Stretch marks? not yet, fingers still crossed!
Sleep: so so much better! my OB said I could try Unisom and try it I did. It was amazing! I am actually able to sleep through the whole night! I still don't take it when Kevin is at work, but I seem to still do okay without it.
Best moment this week: We booked a mini babymoon for spring break at a nice Hotel & Spa, something fun to look forward to!
Miss Anything? I think that I WANT to miss having a beer with my husband, but I seem just as content with grapefruit italian soda or iced water!
Movement: I think I have felt the baby move 2 times for sure, but it is so hard to tell!
Food cravings: Seriously STILL really honeycrisp apples and now also GRAPEFRUIT (somehow I forgot it on the chalkboard)! My love of candy has also returned... oops! And in the morning besides eggos I crave smoothies - greek yogurt, vanilla soy milk, banana and frozen berries = delish!
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!
Have you started to show yet: Hmmm as my husband would put it "you look much bigger than last week, I feel like you are about to just BLOW up!" Here's to hoping he is wrong, not yet!
Gender prediction: It changes daily. I will look at exclusively boy names but then look at only girl nursery ideas, who knows!
Symptoms: A little less tired since I started sleeping better, but by late afternoon I am still pretty tuckered. I have been making sure to work out (almost) every day which is helping!
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Mostly happy!
Looking forward to: finding out the gender, I am ready NOW!

15 weeks!

How far along? 15 Weeks, 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: 4.3 pounds to today, so a little over a pound in the last 13 days since my 1st trimester weigh in. I am still not used to "needing" to gain and trying to embrace it...
Maternity clothes? still not needed, BUT one day last week okay two I was feeling particularly lousy so I wore the maternity leggings from my mom, can you say MAGICAL?! can't wait to wear those on the regular!
Stretch marks? not yet, fingers still crossed!
Sleep: terrrrrrrrrible! insomniac! had to email my OB it got so bad & she suggested magnesium, i am trying it tomorrow night! don't want to try it when Kevin is working in case the dogs can't wake me if they need to.
Best moment this week: buying our precious crib, dresser & changing table! can't wait!
Have you told family and friends: Oh yes and everyone at work knows now too!
Miss Anything? good nights of sleep!
Movement: not yet I don't think but I do lay really still and quiet and try to feel!
Food cravings: STILL really honey crisp apples! i had a craving for cupcakes yesterday so I made an entire batch of hot pink valentine cupcakes... and ate 3 of them, oops!
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope, nothing this week!
Have you started to show yet: some days more than others, can definitely still hide it with clothes. my husband likes to stare at the lil bump and point out when it is showing... how nice of him!
Gender prediction: i still don't have a "feeling" and I am looking at boy and girl names and nursery ideas the same amount!
Symptoms: A few days of lower back pain after work, but mostly still just suuuuuuuuper tired! i definitely haven't lost that 1st trimester fatigue, it is still hanging around, boo!
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! okay a little moody from work at times
Looking forward to: hopefully getting better sleep! (and the gender reveal of course!)

1st Trimester Recap

Looking back over the 1st trimester it is astonishing to me how different all the experiences are... Every pregnant woman is headed down the same 40 (or so) week path with a baby (or more) growing and changing inside of them, but things are SO different for each of us. Don't believe everything you read in books for starters! I think people assume morning sickness is the only 1st trimester symptom and that since I was (thankfully and gratefully) lucky enough not to have it, then they assume it was "easy." Eh. Maybe we will go with "tolerable."

I have seen a multitude of "recaps" but Baby Kerf was the first one that I saw so I used her categories for my own experiences and answers.

Most Exciting Moment: I can hardly remember it I was so overwhelmed, but most exciting was seeing our FIRST ultrasound, baby & heartbeat at only 8 1/2 weeks, even if baby was more like a peanut!

first peek - 8.5 week ultrasound - cute peanut!

Most Challenging Moment: Without choosing my ongoing fatigue and just one "moment" I would say not being able to shout it from the rooftops the second we found out! It is a hard secret to keep!

One Thing I’m Proud Of: My FIRST half marathon, and at 11 weeks pregnant! I signed up before I was pregnant and due to dizziness on a 7 mile run (that clued me into being pregnant), those 7 miles ended up being my longest training run. I had made up my mind aka my husband asked me not to run the half, but 3 minutes before the race he said I could run and it was awesome! Okay not that awesome. It was about 34 degrees to start, raining & blowing sideways at times. The first 8 miles felt really good and we were at a good pace until my body reminded me I was pregnant and hadn't trained enough so the last 5 miles were rough... but WE FINISHED and THAT part was amazing!
After the finish line & after inhaling some food, I was ready for a pic

One Thing I Wish Were Different: This isn't really pregnancy related, but I wish my sister (& brother-in-law) lived closer so I could have my sissy with me while I am pregnant (and all the time). Sometimes FaceTime just isn't enough! In terms of pregnancy, so far I wouldn't change anything except time speeding up!
Sissy & I in NC - Nov 2012

Favorite FoodsChange daily... some of them: cheese cheese cheeeeeeeese all forms & types, honeycrisp apples, eggos, iced water, Starbucks carmel apple spice, green beans with goat cheese/lemon, salad, veggies, potstickers, peanut sauce (by the gallon)! So many more!

Least Favorite Foods: Oatmeal, anything that smells warm, and sometimes even after the first bite, at that particular moment if it smells wierd, THEN that becomes a least favorite food.

My Symptoms: FATIGUE (still), dizziness while running too long/hard, bathroom breaks allllll day & night,  face breakouts first 6 weeks, sore boobs, headaches (still), lower back pain,

Symptoms I [Thankfully] Didn’t Have: morning sickness(!!!!), constipation, vision changes, cramps/spotting, bloating and I am sure others I didn't even think of because they stayed away!

One Thing That Surprised Me The Most: The total and constant exhaustion was one thing (still is). The "second one thing" would be how long it takes to really be showing! After the 1st trimester you are a third of the way through and it doesn't look it for me. I know, I know, the bump growth in the next 2 trimesters will more than make up for it. Yippee...

What I’m Looking Forward To In 2nd Trimester: Finding out the gender!! AND starting to put the nursery together because it will make it even more real. Not so excited about figuring out where to put all of the things we have stored in said future nursery!

14 weeks!

Okay so I skipped 13 weeks. I do plan to be doing weekly updates, but we truly had the craziest 2+ weeks ever! We have had plans every day since the half marathon on the 16th of December. Literally every day since we have either had family or friends plans and were also gone for about half the time in Central Orgeon as well (saw lots of SNOW!). Needless to say sitting on the couch the afternoon of New Years Day felt pretty darn good. I read an entire book!

I am also finally in my 2nd trimester! Feels AMAZING to be a third of the way through already! My OB counts by actual days so she said the 3rd day of the 13th week which happened to be New Years Day! Pretty awesome way to kick off 2013 I thought!

How far along? 14 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 3.1 lbs (my official 1st trimester gain)

Maternity clothes? Still not yet, but I would say the jeans are feeling a bit tight on the waist
Stretch marks? No! Lots of cocoa butter happening!
Sleep: the early alarm for my 2 work days this week felt a little shocking, but finally in my own bed for good

Best moment(s) this week: (1) celebrating the start of the 2nd trimester at Benihana with the hubs, it was nice for some alone time and of course delish food! and (2) setting the gender ultrasound for February 14th!
Have you told family and friends: Yes! it also went live on "social media" this week so the world knows
Miss Anything? Champagne on New Years, but not really. Once I found out that New Seasons' goat cheese is pastuerized and I can have it I am happy!
Movement: Nope still early
Food cravings: still really craving honey crisp apples! and green bean with goat cheese & lemon! really anytime I hear something that sounds good I start craving it
Anything making you queasy or sick: walked into a restaurant this week and the warm smell forced me back outside to take a few breaths, but then I was good
Have you started to show yet: still hiding it with clothes, but I can tell for sure
Gender prediction: I have read so many of the wive's tales and come up boy half the time and girl the other!
Symptoms: Being tired hasn't really gone away, but I DID make it until midnight on New Year's Eve. Also still some lower back pack and a few headaches.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: getting back to the work and working out routine! AND finding out the gender on Valentine's Day!
